First Test match (14th December) Pakistan's Playing XI and Perth Conditions - Sajid Khan replaces Abrar Ahmed!



Latest: Abrar Ahmed is out with a leg injury and will not be available for the first match. Off-spinner, Sajid Khan replaces him. 

My Playing XI Strategy for Perth Stadium:


Perth Stadium Pitch Conditions:


- Modern Venue: Perth Stadium, a modern venue, features a drop-in pitch that tends to be true and consistent, offering less traditional pace and bounce compared to the WACA Ground.

- Batting-Friendly: The pitch is generally considered more batting-friendly, allowing for stroke play and potentially favouring spin bowlers as the match progresses.

- Pace Bowling: While there is still assistance for pacers, it may not be as pronounced as the traditional WACA surface.

 Pakistan's Revised Playing XI Strategy:

In response to the nuances of Perth Stadium, the playing XI is adjusted to strike a balance between pace and spin, considering the more batting-friendly nature of the pitch.

Opening Duo:
1. Abdullah Shafiq
2. Imam-ul-Haq

Middle Order Powerhouses:
3. Shan Masood (Captain)
4. Babar Azam
5. Saud Shakeel
6. Sarfaraz Ahmed (Wicketkeeper)

All-round Prowess:
7. Faheem Ashraf

Bowling Arsenal:
8. Sajid Khan, Abrar Ahmed (Injured)
9. Hasan Ali
10. Shaheen Afridi
11. Mir Hamza

12th Man: Salman Ali Agha (Backup batsman and Off-spin option )

There is an option to use Salman Ali Agha as an all-rounder instead of Faheem or Amir Jamal who is more of a bowling all-rounder for me. Will he get a chance in the first test?

Update: Abrar Ahmed is not playing the first Test due to Leg Injury and Sajid Khan has been named by Wahab as his replacement. 

I would go with a specialist Off-spinner in Sajid Khan and the squad above is based on experience. With Faheem, you will get an extra pacer and with Salman, it's the spin department that will top up. But there is a concern, leg spinner! This squad is missing a specialist leg spinner. 

Saim Ayub will need to wait to make his debut. 

The first Test match starts on 14th December at Perth.
